The Opposite of Sex 1956

These last two weeks I have been watching the classics, I finally watched High Society and saw Rope in full.I have been searching the Film4 listings in a bid to see this movie in full and a film called The Women. Both films are costly to own, as they are not produced for the UK and The Women can only be found in a costly boxset.
Now I have found out that the The Opposite Sex is a remake of The Women.
This film has some witty lines and great social observations and great clothes.
In fact there is a great line that Kay receives from a friend about fighting for her marriage, it goes along the lines of " marriage is meant to be a fight and if you aint got the stomach for it you shouldnt be in the business of it."

Extract from Wikipedia about the film:

It is a remake of the 1939 classic comedy The Women. Both films are based on Claire Boothe Luce's original play. The 1956 musical was directed by David Miller and stars June Allyson, Joan Collins, Dolores Gray, Ann Sheridan, Ann Miller, Leslie Nielsen, Jeff Richards, Agnes Moorehead, Charlotte Greenwood, Joan Blondell, Sam Levene, Dick Shawn, Jim Backus (psychiatrist) and Bill Goodwin.

The story concerns Kay Hilliard (played by June Allyson), a former nightclub singer who discovers her husband Steven (played by Leslie Nielsen) is having an affair with showgirl Crystal Allen (played by Joan Collins). Kay is the last to find out among her circle of gossiping girlfriends. Kay travels to Reno to divorce from Steve who then marries Crystal, but when Kay finds out that Crystal isn't true to Steve she starts fighting to win her ex-husband back.

Unlike its predecessor, the cast includes male actors to play husbands and boyfriends, whose characters were only referred to in the previous film and stage versions. This alters the structure and tone of the base storyline significantly.

Splice Review

When I went to see Splice I already thought I knew what it would be like, they would create a human hybrid carnivorous creature that will kill everyone apart from the main character (Elsa) who will then kill it but not before it reproduces. I was mustly right apart from it not being a meat eater, and that twist at the end. Their was no blood or gore, the horror came from the character Elisa. Her desire to discovery new things, not caring about the risk, gets her partner and his brother killed. The creature Dren is scripted in a sympathetic light, here is a being with possible human intelligence trapped in a warped body, unable to fully express herself or be free, not able to talk but is able to use scrabble pieces to make words. The only word Dren utters is when she changes sex, to impregnate the character Elisa to complete its life cycle.
You see, mostly right!

A Team Review

I am probably biased about this film since its been ages since I have paid full priced for a cinema ticket and did sweat a little when I had to part with nearly £20 for 2 tickets and they wonder why cinema going numbers are declining. I didn't fancy seeing inception at a whopping 2.5 hrs long, but it was sold out anyway. The tiny cinema screen was barely halful for a new release and the screen was tiny I was ready to complain already, the bollywood film had a bigger screen then this.
I vaguely remember the A Team TV series, but it had humour, this film took it self way too seriously, Jessica Biel needs to fire her agent if this is the best he/she can do for her. Her character was pointless and powerless. Also how can none of the bad guys seem unable to shoot for toffee, its pure luck they manage to shoot anyone.
Padded out half longer then needed really dragged, bad CGI at the end, bad and predictable ending. Please don't make anymore because when a cinema starts treating a new movie as if it at the end of its cinema release time, its time to give up. I wanted to see Splice but since it doesn't seem to have any famous people in it cinema is generally ignoring it.
**Rating SATC 2 still worse

The Twilight Saga

How I feel about Bella Swan, stop forcing Eclipse down my thought, its not cool, I grow up with the Vampire Diaries Books, they are cool they have been picked up 10 year after publication for a TV series. L J Smith rules, please do write the last book in the Night World Series before I hit my thirties or die, have I not waited long enough! I thought I was tripping when I saw the add for Volvo featuring scenes from Eclipse. Its so down market wouldn't see Harry Pottor producers giving the go for adds about capes because they appeared in the movie. I for one will be seeing Eclipse only because I could do with some laughter and there nothing else worth seeing.
How I feel about Bella Swan character click below, finally an adult female in the media who isnt delusional about the Twilight series.

SATC- A sad story

Sad Arsed Tried Characters that my review of Sex And The City.
Its a long term since I have watched a movie which made me want to leave before it was over and half way through the Dubai adventures my ipod was on.
Does Sara Jessica Parker have a sponsorship deal with Jimmy Choo because every short of her needed to include her shoes. And just because Sarah Jessica Parker is executive producer gives her no right to think at her age with those Madonna arms she can wear strapless dresses, it doesn't matter how much they hike up those boobs she still looks like a man. It anything SATC seemed to be just a fashion show for the rich, how the over forties can work the more extreme fashion trends and how to display your maximum wealth to the masses. They tried to give the film heart with the human stories but it would of been better if the main characters had displayed it more.
Kim Catrall and Cynthia Nixon are prime illustrates that body fat makes you look more beautiful, feminine and womanly as you get older. I hope that they produce no more of the movies as Sarah Jessica face just scares the viewers, closes up should be baned.
Yes SATC was crass, over indulgent to the extreme where it wasn't even funny any more, it was just greed, greed, greed.

Halloween Viewing- Suspira

I heard somewhere that Suspira was one of the greatest horror movies ever made, so I had to buy it.

Its has haunting soundtrack, visual beautiful, and features one of the most beautiful and geninuly scary murder scenes. The lead actress, was Amercian but the rest of the cast didnt speak the same language so they were dubbed in English Speaking countries.

The movie includes, wild dogs, maggots, barbed wire, strangling, and witches.

GoodBye

Goodbye online diary, you were my source of hope, and a record of the struggles I seem to be born to keep enduring. Part inflicted by myself...
