Today

I went to the launch of Lola and Grace new store at Westfield Stratford(sister range of Swarovski). I enjoyed many tasty appetisers which included mini burgers, mini portion of scampi and chips. Earlier on I also managed to grab a £50 voucher (swap old jewellery for new) and additional 20% of my purchases so I didn't pay a thing. While the staff managed to create a great buzz, they laughed danced and gave out full size drinks of sparkling wine and orange juice while the DJ played on; I did wonder if anyone actual paid to get jewellery. Lola and Grace is an affordable range designed for teens. I'm not sure what teen would of paid £43 for the set I got for free, or the £27-£35 for plastic or fabric bracelets adorned with sparkles

Did you managed to get Marni? I managed to pass the h&m twice today to checkout the range. At 2 o'clock most of the jewellery (men's gone) had gone and 5 designs of the clothes. By 6.30pm their was diminished stock sizes but most of the range was still their including the bags. I can't say I wanted to be anything it was all designed for straight up and down girls and silk featured strongly, it looked like that type that crushed easily if you moved and sat down. It nice to know that people of Stratford are not completely a slave to fashion or maybe the eBayers were not able to visit.

loveSpyVintage

Fintage 365 days of vintage is over, inspired by they way she puts her outfits together I have resolved to take more care to complete my vintage looks and I have purchased my first 50s circle skirt.
So when I spotted this amazing look I had to share, its from Lovespyvintage on ebay.

OMG PRINT!
Its is priced at $158.99 but to be honest when are you ever gone to find something like this again. I would indulge if I could but you know the customs charge is sure to be a bitch.

It blows

Today was a day of broken appointments. I was meant to be at the hospital today but they cancelled the day before, nightmare really as I lost a days work to be able to attend, and in these climates who can really afford to lose a days pay. On the phone the phone the lady was like "we will send you a letter for when you come again", and I was like "actual I had to book time off to be able to come how about I tell you when I can come." I think she was surprised maybe she forgot there are people who still have jobs.
The day before I had stayed in to start packing to move elsewhere, I have the money and this place doesn't work for me, it never did really it just I couldn't afford anything else. So I wanted to explore because I hardly have a Friday off. I wanted to look at some vintage so I want to Angel islington to have a look at the shops that still exist. Its slowly becoming uber fashionable and this has priced out alot of the good vintage places that used to be there. The only shops I could afford to buy stuff in was Dreamtime( when it was jewellery),Cloud Cuckoo Nine and Annie. Now er days I'm too big for Dreamtime, and short of funds to shop in Cloud Cuckoo and I have only bought one thing from Annie due to the prices. Vintage clothing shops in London is fast becoming only for the rich and famous. I noticed another relatively new vintage shopping offering lovely men's and women's clothing down Camden Passage, I cant remember the name but the shop is quite large and features men's and women's beautiful layed out. The ladies clothes were pristine and mainly sourced from LA, okay you would need £150 for a dress but this stuff locked new, I saw 50s cotton dresses in bright colours. No mends, sweat stains they were perfection.
After that fruitless look I then went to Goldhawk Road for Shepherds Bush Market I was on the look out for the lobster print fabric, which has been featured on quite a few sewing blogs in 2011, I spotted it here http://asewingodyssey.blogspot.com/2011/12/christmas-came-early.html. At £4.50 metre I didn't sweat to much. I then Dave Horatha and Co but no the Co is removed. I could of cried the once great shop filled to the brim with every kind of sensible fabric you could find, had been replaced with lots of furnishings, cushions, bedlinen and a tiny bit fabric. It was the only fabric not owned by Asians, now had change for ever. Disappointed again of the disappearance of more gems (one of a kind shops) I travelled to Alfie's Antique Market to get my lamp. I want to gaze at the window of "The Girl Cant Help it" and its gone, the owner has gone back to America and that's a really shame it had the best looking window displays and attracted people to visit it. It was too be expected high rents mean expensive items. I could never afford to spend £200 on a cotton dress but still it was a shame. The Ian Brompton shop was closed so I couldn't get my lamp.
Think its time to spread my wings to other towns for affordable vintage.

Fintage inspiration

I must admit I get a perverve sense of satisfaction hunting down something I have coveted from another person. So imagine my excitement at finding an item exactly like the one owned by 365 vintage days on eBay, just unfortunately its way out of the budget.

Another buy from Ian Brompton at Alfies Antique Market

I have kinda decided that I want to collect vintage representative of ' the native' either through Jewellery pieces like Selro, figurines or books. Is it in order reclaim it as a part of my race history or just because I think it looks nice I havn't decided.

Shopperholic

Oh dear whats the cure for spending, apart from working. It seems the green cash keeps burning a hole in my pocket. Yesterday I was on a mission, I would visit Goldhawk Road in search of lobster fabric (didn't make it) and would see the Carmen photo exhibit (also didn't make it). What I did make is a trip to Alfie's Antique market in search of more Beswick (found it). One of my favourite stands inside is Ian Boughton its filled with wonderful kitsch 50s icon items, each time I pass is kiosk I always say to myself I must buy something but rarely do.
But yesterday I spotted the Beswick dish of my dreams and happily raided the last of my funds for my deposit. It was after our conversation about the pricing of 50s means that it harder and harder to buy it at a reasonable price, he told me he is moving out from Alfie's after 17 years and looking to sell alot of his stock. Oh no! I have always wanted to build up my own collections of 50s and 60s bar wear but as I still don't have a home I though it was impractical. Naturally I had to buy more or be priced out, I spotted a pin up ice cream set, rushed out to raid my bank to buy it but didn't have enough (damn you moneybox charm). image credit omnistar http://www.etsy.com/people/omnistar.

I returned with what I had left and bought 4 pin up beer tumblers and a Babycham ice pocket, and a reserve on original babycham glasses, await more funds
This picture is the exact likeness of the ice bucket I purchasedimage credit www.kitsch.co.uk

This amazing website for all things Babycham and they have Cherryb and I think I vaguely remember it http://www.kitsch.co.uk/acatalog/Spare5.html

Phew its 2012

I can already say that my 2012 is already 10 times better then 2011, so forget the resolutions my aim is to just to earn, earn and earn.
So this January I will see this exhibit

Queue up for Leonardo da Vinci and get my first manicure.
Bye bye to 2011 you wont be missed.

GoodBye

Goodbye online diary, you were my source of hope, and a record of the struggles I seem to be born to keep enduring. Part inflicted by myself...
