Upstairs Downstairs- Episode 2

The second eposide was darker in tone, Mosley and his black shirts made their appearence, death and new life came to the house. But for me it was all about the interiors. Lime and grey pattern floral wall paper go well, you'd have thought it?
Baroque style and a leopprint throw aren't too much?

Upstairs Downstairs-

I had a merry Christmas and it was certainly different to last year. It always interesting to observe other families traditions.
The thing about celebrating Christmas elsewhere is you don't have control of the remote so I missed all of Upstairs Downstairs as there were other programs that peole wanted to watch.

BBC blurb. Revival of the iconic '70s series. Portrayal of life in a London townhouse in 1936, where the fates of the servants "downstairs" and their masters "upstairs" are intimately linked.

Episode 1

I was glad to the screen for the fashions in clothing and interiors.

Quote of the episode
Mother-in law Maude to Lady Agnes about her monkey Solomon.
"Every morning as soon as he sees me open my eyes,he applauds me.
I can't tell you what a confidence boaster that is."

Have I missed out because I am a new snob?

I was reading Lauren's recent blog post @ Wearing History of the benefits of learning to sew your own vintage styled clothes. The ovbious reasoning is, it means your not wearing out your treasures and can preserve them for the next generation. Get those fab designs in your size and also save some of that hard earned cash. If you are sewing challenged you can also go repro on etsy.

While internet browsing I found shebycindy, the designs are inspired by Joan in Mad Men, you wont get much change from $150 but the chances of you actual getting a vintage item that looks like Joan outifts are very slim.

Beyond Retro is now online

Ultimate 90s Christmas Juimper £18

For years Beyond Retro vintage London has been considered the place to shop for vintage finds at non boutique prices. I however have never found that gem, perhaps I don't visit frequently enough, but so I am not left out I can shop online.

Dresses £55 each
Love the charming blue dress with the fabric buttons.

Dresses £50
Love the lace detail on the bustline of the mocha dress.

Dresses £35
Love the black flared dress, if you are offended by fur you could remove the tails and substitue for large tassels.

Not beautiful, but more practical then shoes from Next Outlet which, either fall apart in record time or require costly repairs as they arent made properly.

I am obsessed with Bakelite and Lucite

Earlier in the year, I went to Grays antique Market and had great diffculty finding one that would go over my palm. Having nothing better do I have been searching ebay and etsy for fabulous finds.

Be careful of a good bargain

You remember that dress I was terribly chuffed at getting for a bargain? Well its taupe in colour and not the off white possible grey hue as pictured. Im hoping a good clean will lighten the shade or perhaps replacing the ribbon will help its appearence.

GoodBye

Goodbye online diary, you were my source of hope, and a record of the struggles I seem to be born to keep enduring. Part inflicted by myself...
