Full time Worker

My new job is now offering full time so instead of 24hrs its now 32. I kinda relieved it means that I no longer need to keep applying for second jobs and can finally go to the hairdressers and clear my debts in 6months.
So to celebrate I bought another Beswick pottery piece.
First piece from the dancing days collection only £5.05 condition unknown

Round and Round

The christmas cardigan and the 50s book, my only niggle is that why didn't they include the designer names for the dresses, I did notice one was a Swirl and that was only because two of them were on eBay the month before. I lost out in bidding.

I went to this last Sunday, didnt bring my camera but next time I will.

Handmade cermac was being sold by Andrea as was part of artist resident inside Valentines Mansion, showcasing the work that can be done on Redbridge arts and crafts courses.

What I found in the Library, I want a Tiara!

Would you eat it? They could of bagged it better for £13, I had to taste just to make sure its wasn't plain flour (its does clean you out), hope its the real deal as it is for bed bugs.

Dress of the Month & The Horror

Finally eBay UK has some decent 50s stuff! These horrockses are lovely but they are sure to sell for around the gulp £300 mark.

I have moved to my new place its 15 minutes further up the road and too it has its problems.
1) Beg bugs those black flecks on the mattress are not dirt its faeces. Of course the landlord tried to blame me suggesting I had bought them from my last place, as I am allergic to the bites that's unlikely. Don't like landlord No1
2) Last one in gets the least amount of cupboard space, have to buy more frequent because lack of space.Spending more money on food.
3) Place is a money pit, its seems the local area has a large population of gnat being bitten by them and beg bugs, equals consumption of lots of anti bites remedies and Rio Health Oil.
4) Landlord talks alot and does stuff early in the morning. Don't like landlord No2.
At the moment I am sleeping on the floor and washing my clothes every other, that place in Chadwell Heath is looking mightily nice.

Extra costs now hitting £70 excludes mattress encasement.

Starting Small

I have been looking at the size of rooms and realise I have too much stuff and a keeping the wardrobe may be a problem. At least I have nearly 4 weeks so I can see if the local charity shop can take the wardrobe and table for free.
Typically I know no one who has a car at the moment so I have to pay for a removal van as well, more costs.

look at all the pretty vintage brooches! The fabric I wanted has been bought, so now I am itching to buy something else. I have the Pepin Press book, I got it for under £14 on Amazon through other sellers. Its a good book to look at, even better if you want to try and date your 50s fabrics or look for similair, the CD has lots of images of fabric.

Been a slow month

I haven't posted as I have been lazy and been ill. I'm still completing the vogue dress, actually I spent four days sewing it to near completion, however I have yet to complete the buttons holes (problems with even spacing) and the hem (waiting to buy an attachment as hand sewing a curved hem to laborious. Trying to complete my assignment for my NCFSE LEVEL 2 in Diversity which I should have already submitted to receive corrections.
I didn't have the opportunity to visit the exhibit as it was happening during the lean months. I have to say this is probably one of the weakest exhibit books I have seen which has been in association with V & A, their are alot of stock, pictures inside, very view of the outfits on display.

I picked up Half the Sky because of the book cover, it is a very inspirational book and gave me some much needed perspective.

Hot Days

I love the idea of wearing vintage 50s Hawaiian or Tiki inspired clothes in the summer, but I not too keen on the price so here are some more purse friendly examples. What about turning a mens shirt into a top? And I even managed to find a purse friendly 50s Hawaiian dress for the small bust. I love the Tiki bamboo 2 piece, unfortunately the skirt waist is too small.

Dazzle this Summer

I have wanted a sequin cardigan ever since I saw my two Aunt get one at the tender age of 16. I purchased a beaded and sequin cardigan in okay condition for £45 in Covent Garden that same year. I was horrible chuffed until I realised I could of bought it of eBay in better condition. It may be sunny out there but there is one hell of a cold breeze, I need to wrap up.

GoodBye

Goodbye online diary, you were my source of hope, and a record of the struggles I seem to be born to keep enduring. Part inflicted by myself...
